What, what? In my Gut, gut?

IMG_6381_2

Day 4 of the Elimination Diet/Sugar Detox (refer to this post for more details), and I can definitely report digestive distress!

I honestly don’t know how my gut can be this angry when I’ve cut out SO MANY foods!  Am I detoxing?  Did I get contaminated/glutened on New Year’s Eve?  Do I have low stomach acid?  Will this go away in a couple of days so I can safely be in the company of people again?  I’m so not a fan of the Celiac guessing game!  I’m taking probiotics, I’m drinking tea.

Click here to see what Diane Sanfilippo (author of Practical Paleo and the 21 Day Sugar Detox) had to say on the topic of experiencing gastrointestinal distress while on the 21 Day Sugar Detox.

Regardless of what is going on in there, I will restart my food diary tomorrow and see if we can get to “the bottom” of this…yes, pun intended ;)

I’m also planning on making pulled pork for the first time!  Here are a few pics of things I’ve been eating so far:

Turkey, Shredded Carrot, Avocado mashed with Dijon, and Homemade Raw Sauerkraut

Not so bad, right?

  1. First of all, LOVE the title of the post, hahaha.

Could it be a fat-related thing? I know that fatty foods and my stomach definitely don’t get along, and I see a bunch of my usual suspects up there (avocado and bacon, especially). My mom had her gall bladder out, so I have to watch out in case that ever becomes a problem for me.

    • Haha, THANK YOU!

I definitely have increased my fat intake to make up for the lower carb intake, so it’s entirely possible. My stools haven’t been fatty, which can sometimes be a tell-tale sign you’re not digesting fats, but you never know. Hopefully my food diary will help figure it out. I tried a tbsp of apple cider vinegar before breakfast to try to get my stomach acids going. We’ll see how it goes!!!
